Indie-Yuppie Lalapalooze On The High Seas

...

Fancy waking up the middle of the night in a bunk aboard a ship with eccentric F’Lips frontman Wayne Coyne stood over you covered in fake blood? This may be your chance. Starting this October, the Flaming Lips will serve as the headline act on the first ever Xingolati Groove Cruise.

The event, aboard the Carnival Paradise liner, is a four-day jaunt from Los Angeles to Ensenada, Mexico, where the ship will be transformed into a floating music festival.

The Lips will then play a headline set in the ship's main auditorium as well as screening their recent biographical DVD, ‘The Fearless Freaks’ and host the first-ever ‘Pacific Ocean Zaireeka Party’ and a playback of their 1997 four-disc album that requires four different CD players to play properly.

Other acts confirmed for the trip include funkateers G Love And Special Sauce and Medeski, Martin & Wood. It all kicks off on October 14.

See link above for more - a track from their next album will be on the Wedding Crashers movie soundtrack.
